The Clinic was formed as an avenue to explore different soundscapes. The music is spontaneously improvised with subtle guidelines, allowing for constantly changing textures, timbres, and directions. The result is an explosion of musical voices ranging from ambient atmospheres to raging free jazz; always leading the listener and performers into uncharted and unexpected musical domains......This release is dedicated to the memory of Bill Folwell and Ray Villadonga

David Pate was born in 1954 and raised in Clearwater Florida, during the 1960's.Influenced by that period's icons:Hendrix, Coltrane, Sam Rivers, Zappa, Evan Parker, Ian Anderson and Terry Riley, Pate's solo improvised performances are a strange eclectic mix.He utilizes extended sax techniques: multiphonics, circular breathing, controlled overtones, ostinatos, and maybe a couple of blues licks. ... more
